Lucknow: The 5th HITAISI Annual Program was held on January 7, 2026, at East Calcutta Girls’ College, Kolkata as an International Symposium in collaboration with Sundarban Mahavidyalaya, Panchur College, and Buniadpur Mahavidyalaya. The prestigious event witnessed the presence of distinguished personalities from academic and cultural spheres, lending great significance to the occasion.
Eminent guests included Ex-IAS & MP Dr. Bikram Sarkar, Dr. Ujjaini Mukhopadhyay, Principal of East Calcutta Girls’ College, and Dr. Suvankar Chakraborty, Principal of Sundarban Mahavidyalaya. Renowned academicians such as Dr. Ashutosh Sarkar, Dr. Susnata Jana, and Retd. Prof. Biswanath Saha and Prof. Seema Sarkar from Lucknow also graced the program, along with Dr. Abhijit Barman, President of HITAISI.
The highlight of the event was the conferment of the Hitaisi Awards 2026. Dr. Soma Bhadra Ray received the award in Bengali Literature, while Dr. Sabuj Sarkar was honoured in English Literature. Prof. Seema Sarkar from Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Lucknow was presented with the Hitaisi Special Guest Award 2026.
Besides, Makhanlal Das (Treasurer), Poet Motilal Patua, Dr. Arpitasree Narayan, Sudeshna Roy, Subir Sarkar, Tithi Sen, Aparna Biswas, and Gouri Sarkar added colour and richness to the occasion through their active participation.
The celebration also included book distribution among students, poetry recitations, and inspiring speeches aimed at motivating the younger generation. Eminent professors, authors, poets, and singers further enriched the cultural atmosphere of the program.
The entire event was successfully managed and anchored by author Sankar Sarkar, Secretary of HITAISI, with valuable assistance from Ruma Halder, Acting Secretary, ensuring the program’s grand success and lasting cultural significance.
